Jetstar says it will introduce measures to handle unaccompanied minors after a 12-year-old Sydney boy stole his mother's credit card and took himself to Bali.

The child, known as Drew, appeared on A Current Affair earlier this week.

His family admits he had attempted the stunt twice before but had been thwarted by airline policies which required a letter from parents for unaccompanied minors.

His grandmother said the AFP told her that he would be unable to get through border security.

However, the third time he managed to make it on a Jetstar flight all the way to Indonesia, where he stayed in the All Seasons in Bali for four nights.

His mother has urged airlines to review their policies.

Jetstar has now said said it was looking at ways to tighten its checks to ensure this cannot happen again.
