If you’re hitting your mid-twenties and stressed about your “dream career” you’re actually not alone, with new research unveiling “unprecedented levels of anxiety” among young people about their 9 to 5.
According to a new LinkedIn report, over half of Aussie millennials aged 25 to 33 are anxious when comparing their career progression to friends and colleagues, the Daily Telegraph reports.
LinkedIn’s senior director of Learning and Talent Solutions for Asia-Pacific Jason Laufer puts the “enormous career-related anxiety” down to FOMO (the fear of missing out), high levels of uncertainty, and “a strong sense of wanderlust”.
“Marry up all the stats and millennials are overwhelmed about making the right choice and achieving the dream career,” he said.
The research also found 29 per cent of respondents believe they’ve wasted too much time in the wrong job, while two-thirds worried they’ve never find a job they felt passionate about.
