Iceland Makes It Illegal To Pay Men More Than Women

In a world first, Iceland's closing the gender pay gap by making it illegal to pay men more than women.

Companies will be forced into getting certificates to prove they're not discriminating by sex when it comes to salary packages.

Fines for breaches could be $500 per day.

The United Nations says women are still paid less than men in every country in the world.

The pay gap in Australia's currently 17.9%, even though legislation based on sex discrimination was introduced way back in 1984.
