The RSPCA is appealing for public assistance in identifying a person in a troubling video, in which a group of emus are run down by a 4WD.

The video, which you can watch here, shows the man purposefully speeding towards the group, before mowing them down with his vehicle.

The clip then ends with the man yahooing into the camera, smiling after the attack.

The RSPCA, like many members of the community, has today been shocked and horrified by footage released on social media, showing a man who appears to be deliberately running down a mob of emus in his car. Our inspectors are currently examining the footage to try and determine when and where it was filmed. The video also shows the man’s face, and the RSPCA are asking for help to identify him. We are appealing to the public for information, and we urge anyone with any knowledge of the source of this video to contact the RSPCA in your state, or the police immediately. Such horrific cruelty clearly has no place in our society. The RSPCA unequivocally condemns this type of behaviour, as it clearly shows a disregard for the lives of these vulnerable native animals, and raises grave concerns about this individual’s capacity for such behaviour. The possible penalties for an offence like this in NSW could be up to 5 years in prison and $22,000 in fines under the NSW Crimes Act. We ask that any names and other identifying information be reported and not shared below to respect the innocent and often incorrectly identified.
