Home and Away actor Orpheus Pledger told how he helped save a woman when she was thrown to the ground and assaulted.
He said a hooded man ran and grabbed a woman in Surrey Hill in April last year:
“He just made a run for her. He ran 10 or 15 metres and grabbed her full around the body and threw her to the ground,” Pledger told The Daily Telegraph.
“She screamed so loud.”
This week Justin Bird, 28, was convinced of aggravated assault with the intent to rob. He will be sentences on August and has been reused bail.
Mr Pledger, who plays Mason Morgan on Home and Away said he saw the man acting strangely on the street.
“It was just a normal night, I was walking home from the gym when I saw a man,” he said.
“He was covered (with his hood), he came out of an alleyway.”
He decided to follow him which is when he saw the assault occur.
“I started running,” he said.
“I got him off her and I restrained him and I was screaming out to someone, to anyone who was nearby to give me help, to call the police.
“He was trying to run away, but I had a hold of this guy, telling him ‘You’re not going anywhere’.”
“She screamed so loud. She was obviously frightened and hurt.”
