Australia’s National Youth Mental Health Foundation, Headspace, will be working with Mindframe and Netflix to provide resources and education around 13 Reasons Why’s toughest topics.
The collaboration will help create resources to ensure Australian audiences feel safe and informed while watching the second reason of the hit show, which covers topics like suicide and depression.
“13 Reasons Why has shone a light on tough and difficult topics, bringing them into mainstream discussions. Our aim is to support young people who may be distressed by the content, and to help parents and schools engage in constructive conversations about the themes depicted in the show.” Headspace CEO Jason Trethowan explained.
A dedicated website includes resources including an updated discussion guide and a new series of videos where the cast discuss the issues. There will also be resources for parents and schools.
If you or anyone you know is having a tough time, you can contact Headspace for support on 1800 850 890.
