Harvey Weinstein has been formally charged with rape and criminal sex act charges in New York City overnight.
This is the first of two first-degree-rape and sex crime charges facing the former movie mogul in New York, with a dozen more filed against him across Los Angeles and the UK.
Women have accused Weinstein of a multitude of crimes, from sexual harassment to assault, which he has pleaded not guilty to, denying all allegations.
Weinstein only became aware of his accusers' identities and what the specific charges are laid against him on Friday, when he finally turned himself in to police.
The allegations first drew media coverage after the New York Times exposé was published in October last year, after which, Weinstein withdrew to a sex addiction rehabilitation clinic in Arizona.
