Raising awareness.

The Federal Government has pledged funding for expecting and new parents experiencing perinatal anxiety and depression.

The $300,000 will go to the Gidget Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation, as it looks to provide more services across Australia - especially in more remote locations.

Up to 10 free counselling sessions are a part of the program, and it is the only specialist perinatal counselling service in Australia.

This comes as Perinatal Depression and Anxiety Awareness Week gets underway, which hopes to raise awareness of the illness that impacts over 100,000 Australians and their families each year.
