Footy Fan Bashed By Collingwood Supporters Following Queens Birthday Match

A footy fan has a broken jaw after an unprovoked attack following the Queens Birthday match at the MCG.

The Herald Sun reports Michael Derham, 31, was set to ride home when a Collingwood fan approached him and tried to take his bike.

“I told him to nick off and as I was riding off, four of his mates got in front of me looking like they wanted to start a fight,” Mr Derham told the Herald Sun.

“As I got off my bike the original guy came up behind me and in a completely unprovoked and cowardly attack, punched me in the back of the head.”

Some bystanders helped the man and police and an ambulance arrived at the scene soon after. He was taken to hospital and had surgery.

The police are investigating and anyone who has any information is urged to contact police.
