Wedding are meant to be one of the happiest days of your life… but this family got the shock of their life.
Last week, a beautiful wedding took place in Canada, everything was going to plan… well, until they got to the speeches.
Father-of-the-bride, JP Nadeau, was in the middle of his speech to his daughter when out of nowhere he was struck by lightning mid-sentence.
The wedding was held on the family’s apple orchard in New Brunswick, Canada.
Mr Nadeau told Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, “And just as I told my new son-in-law ‘You’re a lucky guy’ – Boom!”
Thankfully, he was also the lucky guy… he walked away with just a small scar on his thumb and that is all!
The wedding then went along as normal, just like nothing had happened.
Mr Nadeau also told the CBC, that clouds had gathered behind him at the ceremony and he noticed them getting quite dark. His daughter also saw lightning strike the ground nearby.
He said, "I had the microphone and the shock jumped into the sound system and my hand just lit up and I saw the spark… And I'm looking at my hand and it's all flared up… It was like I was holding a lightning bolt in my hand, it was amazing."
Mr Nadeau's wife, Maggy Thomas, told the CBC, "It was a beautiful wedding… but that was pretty terrifying for a second."
Imagine being at the wedding and seeing that?
Mr Nadeau has also had another close call with death, back in 2015 a cruise ship he was working on caught fire. Thankfully he was rescued by the British Royal Air Force and survived to live through another near death experience
Mr Nadeau explained, “I've had lots of brushes with death… but death keeps ignoring me."
What a legend.
