Police have confirmed that Perth girl Anita Board has passed away in hospital following her horrific crash.
Anita was rushed to hospital in a critical condition on Saturday afternoon after a drag racing crash at Perth Motorplex.
It is believed the youngster was taking her junior dragster for a ‘test run’ before she lost control and hit a cement barrier at the end of the track.
"Tragically, the eight-year-old girl involved in a crash at the Kwinana Motorplex yesterday has died as a result of the injuries she sustained," the WA Police statement reads.
"Police will prepare a report for the Coroner."
Recently turning eight, Anita celebrated her birthday by going go-karting in preparation for getting her junior drag racing licence.
Australian National Drag Racing Association rules state racers must be aged over eight-years-old, with kids between eight and 10 unable to exceed 96km/h.
