A drought-stricken dairy farmer has posted an emotional video on Facebook, showing how hard the weather and conditions are making it for Aussie farmers.

In the clip, Shane Hickey details how equipment is breaking and water restrictions look to be in place very soon due to the dry winter weather and payment structure.

Shane reveals that he received his 'milk cheque' for the month of July and worked out that his labour equated to $2.46 per hour based on the payment.

“I worked for $2.46 an hour. Now something’s got to change. You can’t keep this s*** up. People can’t expect farmers to continually work for nothing,” he said.

“That’s basically slavery”.

A recent inquiry by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission found that even if the prices of milk were raised, it is a case of the 'middle men' - being the processors - who would stand to gain with little impact on the farmers.
