If having a baby is on your bucket list, you might want to move it up a few spots.

New research has found less than half of young people know when their fertility starts to decline – and experts are concerned.

A study by the Royal Women’s Hospital, Melbourne University and Victoria’s IVF regulator has found less than half of students could correctly pick the time period when a woman’s fertility declines significantly – which for the record – is from age 35 – 39.

The study’s author said it’s worrying:

“There’s so many things they want to achieve before they have children” Dr Eugenie Prior said.

“They want to be advanced in their profession, they want to be financially stable, they want to travel, they want to be in a stable relationships,”

She said those ambitions might be limiting women’s chances to have children.

“Fertility is one of those things that does have finite limits, even with all the medical technology that we have.”
