Commonwealth Bank customers have struggled to make transactions for hours with Netbank and the CommBank app playing up.

The bank initially confirmed the issue just before 7.30am.

“Morning everyone. We're aware of an issue affecting some Visa card transactions and some payments in NetBank and CommBank app. We're working to fix as a priority and we apologise for any inconvenience first thing on a Monday,” they said.

They later confirmed there were also issues for merchants – urging them to use manual processing.
