There’s calls for an independent review of Roundup weedkiller due to links to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The Cancer Council is concerned the effects of the weed killer’s ingredient, glyphosate, aren’t being taken seriously enough
“We are concerned that this issue’s not being taken seriously enough in Australia, particularly by the agricultural industry,” Cancer Council Australia CEO Dr Sanchia Aranda told the ABC’s Four Corners. “The IARC report is independent and does suggest that there is absolutely a reason for concern.”

While Roundup has been markets as safe, there are thousands of lawsuits in the US which claim the product caused cancer.

Australia’s regulator, the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA), has not formally reviewed glyphosate since 1995, however the APVMA chief executive Dr Chris Parker told the ABC.
