A troop of ex-Aussie soldiers are putting tech-addicted teens through a grueling boot camp to help reduce their reliance on smart phones and tablets.
Glenn Filtness from Veteran Mentors told Seven News the nine-day experience was designed by Australian Defence Force ex-serviceman for 12 to 17 year olds, and had a blanket rule of absolutely no technology.
"The second they get on our bus we take their phones and any technology they have off them straight away," he said.
With a focus on building social skills, self-confidence and morale, the program is not cheap at more than $4000 a pop, but Filtness says camp facilitators delivered strong results.
"It's very tough for the participants and that's why it's effective,” he said.
“If it wasn't tough it wouldn't work.”
