New global research has revealed nearly one third of Australians aren't getting enough exercise.

The World Health Organisation study found that self-reporting of activity levels did not meet the recommended standard in 2016.

This put Australia at 97th spot of 168 countries involved, with 30.6 per cent not reaching the recommended level of physical activity.

Breaking down the data, it was also found that Aussie females (33.6 per cent) not getting enough exercise compared to males (27 per cent).

The US had 40 per cent of people not getting enough exercise, and the UK 35.9 per cent.
