The Turnbull Government has announced that a $1.3 million funding boost will be directed towards prostate cancer and infertility as a part of the new National Male Health Strategy.

The strategy aims to improve the health and wellbeing of all men in the next decade.

There is currently research underway into managing breast and prostate cancer using precision medicine.

Prostate cancer is the sixth leading cause of death for males, and the most common cancer among men.

A whopping 16,000 new cases are diagnosed each year.

A new medicare item has been included by the Turnbull Government this year to assist the 26,000 men who need prostate cancer MRI services each year.

Meanwhile, there is also research being conducted at the University of Newcastle looking into sperm function and causes of male infertility.

With one in 35 men struggling with infertility, this research is looking to develop new forms of therapy.
