Thieves target gaming venues in Mid North Coast

Mid North Coast police have confirmed six licensed premises have been broken into between the Camden Haven and the Nambucca since the start of this year.

While persons of interest are being dealt with in regards to a break in at Nambucca Heads, Detective Inspector Kim Fehon says the other five venues - in Gladstone, Smithtown, Port Macquarie (two) and Laurieton, were all targeted for their poker and cigarette machines.

Det Insp Fehon also said police believe the Port Macquarie and Laurieton incidents were committed by the same offenders.

Police have since been undertaking safety and security assessments of premises with gaming areas, particularly outdoor gaming areas, given the two licensed clubs in Port had outdoor areas which the perpetrators allegedly accessed by climbing a perimeter wall.
