A man previously acquitted of the murders of two indigenous children in Bowraville has been charged again with their murders.

The man, who can not be identified for legal reasons, appeared for mention in Newcastle court this morning, and was charged with the death of four year old Evelyn Greenup and 16 year old Clinton Speedy-Duroux.

The ABC reports whether the case proceeds any further will be determined by an application to the Court of Criminal appeal by the NSW Attorney-General. The man is listed to appear at the CCA in Sydney a week from today.

Between September 1990 and February 1991, Duroux, Greenup and Colleen Walker-Craig, 16 disappeared from the same street of the Nambucca Valley town.

The case of Ms Craig has never gone to court as her body has never been found, however a key suspect has been tried separately for the other two murders and found not guilty on each occasion.

Last May, then-Attorney general Gabrielle Upton decided to refer the application for a retrial to the court of criminal appeal, after police delivered evidence supporting the claim that all three cases should be heard together.
