A man will face court this morning over two alleged domestic-related stabbings during an altercation at a home in South West Rocks.

About 11.20am on Wednesday, emergency services were called to a home on Arthur Street, following reports two people had been injured in a violent altercation.

A 66-year-old woman and a 78-year-old man were treated at the scene by paramedics, before being taken to Kempsey Hospital for treatment to serious stab wounds.

A short time later a 34-year-old man, known to the couple, was arrested a short distance away.

Officers from Mid North Coast Police District arrested the man and conveyed him to Kempsey Police Station.

He was later charged with 2 counts of wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and malicious damage.

The man was refused bail and will appear at Port Macquarie Local Court today.

The injured couple were treated at Kempsey Hospital and then transferred to Port Macquarie Hospital, where they both remain in serious but stable conditions.
