The idea of pay-as-you-feel supermarkets have floated around recently and it seems it will finally come to fruition at this new Melbourne store.
Lentil as Anything will soon open ‘The Inconvenience Store’ in Thornbury. Shoppers will be able to come in, grab what they need and name their price. If you are unable to pay for what you need, you can walk away free of charge.
It’ll stock food from businesses, markets and restaurants who would otherwise throw the produce away. Volunteers will be manning the floor with the money going towards operations like electricity and transport.
Shopping at The Inconvenience Store will give you major karma points as your money will go towards preventing food waste and helping the environment.
You’ll need to wait until Sunday July 8th to try it out for yourself. In the meantime, check out the Lentil as Anything website.
