The woman found dead in a Carlton North Park has been named as Eurydice Dixon.
The 22-year-old aspiring comedian was found in a Carlton North soccer field at around 3am on Wednesday morning.
"It was a packed house every night," James Forman, who worked at Highlander Bar where she regularly performed told The Age.
"She might have just been starting out as a comedian but the audience did not reflect that. Her shows were always packed to the rafters."
Friend Kieran Butler told the Herald Sun Ms Dixon was a talented comedian and was spending time with Ms Dixon’s devastated family today.
“I’d been mentoring and working with her on and off for the last three years. I thought she was going to break new ground through in the next five to 10 years,” Mr Butler said.
A 19-year-old Broadmeadows man handed himself into police on Wednesday evening and he has been charged with one count of murder and rape.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help support her family, over $5000 has already been raised.
