A shocking attack over a cigarette has left a Victorian ambulance employee in hospital after he was bashed unconscious.
Three men asked the 47 year-old for a smoke outside Dandenong Hospital at 3:30 on Tuesday afternoon when he refused, they argued and a fight broke out.
The man, who is believed to work for the National Patient Transport Group, which transports patients for Ambulance Victoria, was knocked to the ground and kicked several times.
The offenders only fled when a second man came to the victim's aid.
In a Facebook post, Ambulance Employees Australia - Victoria, said "enough is enough."
