Three men have been charged with murder after an alleged argument between housemates at a suburban Melbourne home.
The dead man, aged in his 30s, was found in cardiac arrest and with serious injuries at a run-down Brighton East house on Wednesday night.
The Brighton East men aged 36, 37 and 41 have all been charged with one count of murder.
The run-down brick house, with garbage in the front yard and a broken fence, is on a quiet street.
A neighbour told AAP he had seen people coming and going from the house but didn't know the men who lived there.
He also didn't hear anything on Wednesday night until police arrived.
Officers returned to the property, which is believed to be a rental, on Thursday morning and left with evidence bags.
