A tourist taking in the sights in Melbourne has survived being run over by a tram overnight.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Victoria Parade in Abbotsford at roughly 10.20pm last night.
According to 7 News, two women were taking pictures of trees while on the tracks when the driver began to urgently ring the bell warning of the approaching tram.
One woman, 36, is believed to have tripped as she hurried to move out of the way, hitting her head, with the tram passing over her.
She is understood to have escaped with just cuts and a bump after the incident, and is recovering in hospital.
"The female was trapped under the front of the tram," Sergeant Marshall said, reports 9 News.
"She was actually ok - she just had a nasty bump to her forehead.
"The lady is very fortunate, this tram is one of only few that has a bit of room underneath it at the front.
"If it was a different tram, this would have been another story."
