Melburnians are always coming up with out-of-the-box concepts and we are certainty keen to check out this one – The Sea Turtle Club.
Described as “creative waste management,” the new Summer pop-up bar has been designed to use as little plastic as possible. All the furniture has been recycled and even plastic straws are out of the question (you use a metal straw you can take with you).
Bartender Daniel Monk told Broadsheet the space was a ‘useless, unused smokers’ area’ that would otherwise be filled with trash from the night before. He’s hoping the bar will make the public reconsider how they use plastic in their every day lives.
One of the great things is that all tips go towards the protection of Sea Turtles, a species which is constantly threatened by plastic in the ocean.
Find The Sea Turtle Club on the upper deck of 334 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. It’s open until the end of April.
