There’s nothing more Australian than a summer Christmas – but will the weather gods be bringing the goods this year?
The Bureau of Meteorology has announced their forecast for Christmas Day weather and Melbourne looks to be a 10/10.
Senior Forecaster Stephen King said the weather was shaping up to be perfect:
“It’s looking pretty good for Christmas at this stage. Christmas Eve we’ve got 21 degrees during the day after a morning shower.
“By Christmas day we’re expecting a minimum of 13 – so a nice cool start – and then getting up to a top of 24 degrees and only partly cloudy skies expected – so perfect day in my opinion.”
The day will be a pleasant change to last year which was the hottest Christmas in 18 years – peaking at 36.3 degrees in the afternoon.
The highest Christmas Day temperature on record for Melbourne is 40.7 degrees in 1907.
