Cops are scrambling for info after a crook took two chickens from St Mark's Parish Primary School in Fawkner.
'Fluffy' and 'Nuggets' were stolen on September 29 during the school holidays.
The primary school kids have been left questioning things like "Why would someone steal chickens?"
Principal Peter Wilson spoke to Seven about how devastated the kids were, "The number of children who come down here to the coop and spend their recess and lunchtime, just spending time... one of the little boys said yesterday he feels like they're his friends, and it's his safe place to come and spend time with the chickens, so yeah it's taken that away from the kids."
CCTV footage has been released that shows a man breaking into the school in the early hours of the morning and taking the school pets at around 1 am and again at around 6 am.
As for the students they now have one clear message for the chook crook... 'Give em back!"
Anyone with info on this fowl play is urged to contact police.
