Just when we thought spring was on the horizon, our mates at the Bureau of Meteorology has dropped this shocker: It's likely to SNOW on the Dandenong Ranges this weekend - and the rest of the state will cop it too.
Melbourne is predicted to be hit with with hail, thunder this weekend as a front passes over the state, Senior Forecaster Dean Stewart from the Bureau of Meteorology said.
A severe weather warning has been issued this afternoon for cold and squally winds developing across the weekend - they're expected to reach about 90km/hr.
It's also predicted to snow at lower levels the Otway Ranges and Strzelecki Ranges, as well as the usual alpine areas.
Close to Melbourne we’ll even have snow fall on the Dandenong ranges.
“It’s been quite a few years since we’ve had a covering on the ground, since August 2008.”
