Police are negotiating with a man believed to be armed with a handgun inside an Epping home.
Heaving armed officers are said to be at a Cooper Street address, where a siege situation unfolded after 2pm today, the Herald Sun reports.
The man fled the house but returned shortly after, with road blocks now in place across the area.
Victoria Police spokesman, Acting Sgt Adam West, said he was unable to comment on why police had initially been seeking to arrest the man.
“We’re currently trying to negotiate with a man,” Sgt West said.
“It’s believed he might be armed with a hand gun.”
