Victoria is the safest it’s been in ten years – new statistics show.
The Bureau of Statistics count of recorded crime, released this week, shows across Victoria is the second safest state or territory in Australia.
Across all states there were 75,860 offenders in 2016-17, down from a high of 87,695 under the Baillieu government in 2012-13.
This is the fourth year in a row crime has fallen.
The Northern Territory recorded Australia’s highest offender rate, followed by South Australia, Queensland, NSW and Western Australia.
