Are you heading to Moomba this Labor Day Long weekend?

Here's some of the key things you need to know:

Friday 10th March:

The free festival starts in Melbourne along and around the Yarra River.

Fireworks will go off with a bang every night Friday through to Monday at 9.30pm site-wide.

Wakeboard event kicks it off at 10.15am - 11.45am.

First ever Roller Disco Friday 6pm - 11pm on the Palm Lawn.

Saturday 11th March:

Australian Skateboarding League National Final 2pm - 8pm at Skate Park.

Sunday 12th March:

Birdman Rally takes place 11.30am - 12.30pm.

Monday 13th March:

Moomba Parade 10.45am - noon along St Kilda Road.

Men’s & Women’s Wakeboard Final on the River 5.30pm - 7.30pm.

Men’s Night Jump Final 8pm - 10pm.

It's all about the foodies this year, so as you make your way through the Moomba Festival site, grab a bite from some of the city’s top 40 food trucks and eateries.

You can tuck into anything from ice-creams to burgers; pork belly sliders to traditional Greek donuts; and smoky, summery BBQ treats.

For those watching their waistline - keep an eye out for the apple icon to point you towards healthy food options.

Emergency Services At Moomba:

How can we forget the ruckus in the city on the same weekend last year? As a result, there will be a big presence from our boys in blue.

Deputy Commissioner Andrew Crisp says a much larger police presence will be felt at this year's festival, with plain clothes officers joining uniformed branches, the air wing and water police.

"You will see significantly more numbers than you would have seen if you came to Moomba last year."

The new 24-hour monitoring and assessment centre will be feeding information to officers at the scene.

It was also used successfully at the White Night event a few weeks ago. Gangs were blamed for the 2016 Moomba riot that started at Federation Square and continued up Swanston St, with up to 200 people wielding chairs as weapons and brawling in the street. Extra paramedicz are working across the state also this long weekend, to cope with crowds at the 18 difference large public events.

Additional ambos have been rostered on for three speedway competitions; a water skiing event; AFL football, a cycling challenge in the high country and the Justin Bieber concert.

You'll also see them at Babylon, Pitch and Golden Plains dance parties in the Grampians region and a dance party at Hisense Arena.

It follows last month's oversdoses in which 25 people took illegal drugs in one night at Sidney Myer Music Bowl, needing treatment.
