Metro trains are currently working to resume train services across the Melbourne metropolitan area.
At around 4.15 today Metro trains tweeted they were experiencing delays across all train lines due to a fault.
Passengers were advised to seek alternative forms of transport as the entire Melbourne Metro system shut down for over an hour. Passengers trapped on stuck trains were requested not to force the doors open.
Metro announced they were working to restore services at around 5.30 today - but they appear to be struggling to resume services due to trespassers on multiple lines.
Drivers are expected to experience delays at level crossings as the network works to get as many trains out of city centre as possible.
