Melbourne detectives are seeking a man who has been mugging people with a plastic gun.
In the most recent incident, a 51-year-old woman was walking to her vehicle in a car park when she was threatened by a man with a hand gun who demanded she hand over her belongings.
The woman has complied and handed over her two handbags before the man pushed her over and jumped on his bike to escape.
The man has ridden about 10 metres before stacking his getaway vehicle and dropping the victim’s phone. He then rode for another 50 metres before running into a pole, coming off his bike again and dropping his gun which broke into pieces – revealing it to be a plastic toy.
He then escaped from the scene. In an earlier incident the man held up a St Albans service station with a plastic gun and demanded cash before riding away.
The man is perceived to be of Southern European or Caucasian appearance and aged in his 20s or 30s.
He was wearing a black baseball cap, black hooded top, black gloves, jeans and white runners.
Detectives believe both incidents are linked.
