The unseasonable warm conditions will continue though, it is expected to be humid across the state.
A heavy band of rain will sweep across the city with the Bureau of Meteorology saying temperatures will reach 28C and 25C.
Five to 10 millimetres or more is expected today, with 10 and 35mm of rain and thunderstorms forecast for Tuesday.
The good news is the wet weather will clear on Wednesday.
It’s been the second warmest March on record for Melbourne, so far, with temperatures reaching six degrees higher than average.
