Werribee, Sunbury and Cragieburn commuters will enjoy more peak services from August 27.
Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan announced 30 new Metro train services will be added in peak hour each week – creating room for 27,000 extra passengers.
However the new schedule will also add time to the trips of passengers travelling between Frankston and the city.
It comes as commuters faced a series of major delays on their way to work, including the cancellation of a 8.34am train inbound from Frankston.
Other changes in the new timetable include:
The extension of 37 daily Altona Loop services that currently stop at Newport.
More peak services for passengers in Rosanna, Macleod, Watsonia, Greensborough, Montmorency and Eltham.
The new timetables will be made available in July.
