Roads in the CBD will be closed for up to five years while the Metro rail tunnel is built.
The Herald Sun reports Franklin St will be closed between Swanston and Victoria St while A’Beckett St will be closed between Swanston St and Stewart St.
The project will include an extra five stations which are set to open in 2026. More streets are expected to close in 2018.
Public Transport Minister Jaala Pulford said: “this is the start of major disruptions for this massive project, which will bring decades of benefits for Melbourne.”
“I thank people for their patience.”
