A suspected bomb has forced the evacuation of a police station Oakleigh.
The Herald Sun reports Police closed the building as specialist officers secured the area.
It's understood the bomb was brought back to the station by police who had seized the object as part of an investigation and was in the building for several hours before it was discovered.
Victoria Police spokeswoman Hannah Rowlands said the Bomb Response Unit had evacuated the police station as a precaution.
“Police are currently conducting safety checks at Oakleigh Police Station after a possible explosive device was brought into the station this morning,” Ms Rowlands said.
“Members of the public are advised to attend Clayton, Glen Waverley, or Moorabbin police stations until the checks are complete.”
