A 25-Year-Old Man Has Died In A Camberwell House Fire

No Smoke Detectors Were Installed

A young man trapped in a house fire in Melbourne's east has died despite the efforts of fire crews to save him.

About thirty firefighters rushed to Kingsley Street in Camberwell to tackle the blaze at the weatherboard house.

The Metropolitan Fire Brigade received several calls just after midnight and were told there could be someone inside.

The flames were contained to a bedroom, where they found the body of a 25-year-old man whose two house mates had managed to escape unharmed.

Formally identified is yet to be confirmed and the fire has not been classified suspicious.
