In May, a much-loved resident of the Yuleba was struck by a truck while crossing the road in the township, prompting one local resident to start an e-petition demanding the State Government reduce the speed limit of the highway through the south-west town from 80km to 60km.
The petition states that both the Maranoa Regional Council and Yuleba residents held concerns at the speeds allowable through the town.
"(For) six years, the community and the Maranoa Regional Council have requested the Department of Transport and Main Roads to reduce the speed limit from 80km/h to 60km/h on this stretch of highway," the petition reads.
In just one week, over 300 signatures have signed the on-line petition, you can sign by heading to: the government website.
