Mackay residents can expect night works to commence on the Peak Downs Highway. The Department of Main Roads advises works on the Mackay Ring Road will lead to changed traffic conditions on the Highway between Horse and Jockey Road and Peri Road. They will kick off Monday and run until Wednesday weather permitting. Traffic will be cut to a single lane overnight with temporary traffic lights in place.

 

Race horse owners are striking for more prize money at Mackay meets. The Throughbred Breeder Queensland Association behind the move... and wanting to see the State Government reinvest it into Prizemoney. The Point of Consumption tax instead seeing the cash going to infrastructure. President Basil Nolan says this action won’t come as a surprise to the Government.
