Local MPS are welcoming new State Government funding under round two of the Maturing the Infrastructure Pipeline Program. The MACKAY region has been approved for up to eight hundred and fourteen thousand dollars in grant funding for three Councils to mature infrastructure projects from ideas into solid proposals. Local Government Association of Queensland chief executive Greg Hallam says this is a huge boost for our region.

 

Seniors in the MACKAY region have two days left to take advantage of the Senior's Expo bus. The expo is being held on AUGUST 21st at the MACKAY SHOW precinct from 9a-m. Complimentary buses are being provided from the Sarina Neighbourhood Centre and MIRANI Council at 8:30 returning at 12:30. Bookings are essential by Friday and can be made by calling 4961 9596 

DEFENCE FORCE RECRUITING is coming to MACKAY. They're looking for the next group of locals to take on new challenges within DEFENCE. Residents are invited to an information session to meet personnel and learn about some of the 200 roles on offer. It's happening at the MECC from 6 tonight

 

A Mackay fast food favourite has been nominated in the 20-18 Fish and Chips Awards. Debbie's Seafood and Deb's Fish Cafe is one of five Queensland finalists. They've been selected from more than two thousand stores across the Country jockeying for the title of best fish and chips. Winner's are named from a vote which is underway until September 15 on the fish and chips awards website

 

MACKAY is set to be a crucial stop on the PBR tour. With just over a handful of evets remaining until NOVEMEBER's grand finals the tour will hit QUEENS PARK in exactly a month. Race leaders Kleier and Babbington are separated by just over 200 points

 

Get ready for an action packed week of racing in the WHITSUNDAYS. Tomorrow marks the start of the 30th annual Airlie Beach Race Week with a record number of entries heading into the event
