As part of the nationwide NBN rollout Mackay locals are being reminded to make the switch. It's predicted around 3,000 homes in the region who will be affected by the change. Once your area has moved over to NBN you will be unable to access phone and internet services through the old system. To continue using your services you will need to contact your provider to place an NBN order. Information on rollout dates can be found on the NBN website.
The State Government are giving Mackay a helping hand to upgrade cycling infrastructure. Three major pathways will share in the 17 million dollars that's being given to local councils to upgrade bike and walking pathways. Advocacy and Policy Manager for Bicycle Queensland Andrew Demack says it's going to compliment works that have already been undertaken.
Mackay Regional Council libraries are offering a series of free writing workshops. Partnering with local author Sharon Johnston to deliver three classes around the fundamental basics of writing. Swimming lessons at Victoria Park State School have never looked so good. The facilities receiving a major upgrade moving the change rooms closer to the pool, installing new offices and a storage room. It is the first substantial upgrade since the pool opened in 1964.
