Federal Member for Dawson George Christensen is backing a move to place cystic fibrosis medication on the PBS. The Morrison Government has promised to subsidise the medicine which significantly extends lives while saving families up to a quarter of a million dollars a year. Orkambi will be available on the PBS from the start of October.

The Red Cross in Mackay want us to book in for first aid courses to help save a life on our regional roads. New figures showing 15 per cent of road accident deaths could be prevented if we were skilled with first aid knowledge. Spokesperson JANIE MCcullagh says you could help to save a life.

 

317 people in the Capricornia region had a stroke last year!! The Stroke Recovery Trial Fund .. asking us to wear Stripes for Stroke tomorrow. The charity fundraising for a new treatment to Australia to be trialed. Managing Director Dr Coralie Graham wants the stripes to start a conversation.

North Mackay Saints men’s and women’s teams are ready to fight it out in the second round of AFL finals. The sides will take to the field at Harrup Park Saturday vying for a spot in next weekend's grand finals and premiership glory. The women kick it off just after three against Mackay Magpies followed by the men who are eager to take down Eastern Swans.

Mackay Hockey Association is preparing for grand final mayhem. Getting underway Saturday from 8:30 with a two dollar entry fee for spectators. It comes after Arsenals took out the Masters Men and Brothers Blue took out the Masters women’s top spots on Tuesday night
