A WEST MACKAY man stops thieves in their tracks thanks to a phone app. Around 3 Friday morning the man was woken by noise under his home and he immediately checked his mobile to access C-C-T-V. He saw the interior car light on and the driver’s door open. Yelling out and running downstairs he frightened off the would be thief. POLICE are investigating

 

A luxury charter tourism company is expanding in the Whitsundays. Signing an exclusive contract with Hayman Island run company InterContinental. Ocean Dynamics has been contracted to provide dive and motorised water sports to the island. The contract is set to boost the Whitsundays economy, creating 40 new positions at both Hayman Island and Airlie Beach

 

An ex Mackay student is making sweet music with Usher. Tristan Barton studied a Bachelor of Music at Mackay's CQ Uni and was a drummer. Now he composes and creates original recordings for TV commercials and social media. He recently was asked to create tailor made instrumental recordings to introduce Usher's Instagram sites and stage shows

 

Mackay locals are in the throes of rehearsals ahead of an OPERA Queensland performance. A chorus of 21 will frock up as bridesmaids and cricketers to take part in a production of Gilbert and Sullivan's The Witch's curse at the MECC Saturday. Opera Queensland head of learning Mark Taylor says the whole family will have a great time supporting performers from MACKAY and THE WHITSUNDAYS
