A Mackay Police Officer has been stood down in relation to shoplifting allegations. The 50 year old male sergeant has been suspended and given a notice to appear on eight charges. He is due to face Mackay Magistrates Court next month

Police are investigating an attempted burglary in Blacks Beach. A woman reported hearing a cutting noise outside her house around 10 Sunday night when she turned the lights on but nobody was seen. Mackay’s Childcare Workers are walking off the job today. It's all in fight for equal pay with 7 thousand workers expected to hit the streets across the country. Underdogs Kuttabul have dashed finals dreams for Slade Point. Facing off at Quarry Hill Saturday in round one of the finals season.
