A Mackay Police Officer has been stood down in relation to shoplifting allegations. The 50 year old male sergeant has been suspended and given a notice to appear on eight charges. He is due to face Mackay Magistrates Court next month

 

Police are seeking public assistance to locate the driver of a suspicious van that's been seen in front of schools and parkland. The male driver of the white van was reportedly acting suspiciously on September first. If anyone has any information call Crimestoppers

 

Police are investigating an attempted burglary in Blacks Beach. A woman reported hearing a cutting noise outside her house around 10 Sunday night when she turned the lights on but nobody was seen. The next morning she said she found a fist sized hole in a side window screen. If you have any information call Police Link.

Mackay’s Childcare Workers are walking off the job today. It's all in fight for equal pay with 7 thousand workers expected to hit the streets across the country. United Voice Big Steps Campaign Leader Linda Revel says there's plenty of regional cities involved.The rally will be at the corner of Milton and Gordon Streets

 

As part of child protection week Whitsunday Counselling are providing a free library play in the park. Held at the Proserpine Library today from 9:30 the event will host children's activities for those aged 0-5 years. They aim to promote learning and social engagement

 

Underdogs Kuttabul have dashed finals dreams for Slade Point. Facing off at Quarry Hill Saturday in round one of the finals season. Slade Point had been holding out for a finals clash with City from as early as round seven but it wasn't to be. The side succumbed to Kuttabul with a final score of 25-16

 

A number of local sports stars will represent Australia at the upcoming Darwin International Hockey Open. Jacob Anderson and Matthew Swann will make the journey north to throw on the Green and Gold. It will be Anderson's Kookaburra's debut
