A young boy has reportedly been speared in the chest. The twelve year old was spearfishing around 6 last night when he was allegedly pierced by a spear on the left side of his chest. Fire crews were called to cut the spear down so he could be taken to hospital in an Ambulance. The boy was transported to Mackay Hospital in a stable condition with a spokesperson saying the injury was superficial.

A pub with no beer mats has been reported in Proserpine. Shortly after 1 Saturday morning people at a pub on Main Street have broken into the storeroom and stolen 20 beer mats. The mats were Prince of Wales, VB, and Tooheys mats alongside several local business ones. If you have any information please contact Police as soon as possible.

The race is on in Mackay to get rid of pest birds. A small group of INDIAN MYNA birds have been reported in the area and Birdlife is concerned the population will take over. Birdlife  Mackay Volunteer  Rex Singline is asking the Macakycommunity to keep an eye out for the birds.

According to new Tourism Research data domestic visitors are flocking to The Whitsundays. Stats released yesterday revealing in the twelve months leading up until June over half a million people came to town.

Mackay Meteor Captain Chris Cedar also led the team to their victory while Mackay Basketball G-M Jason Bord stepped in as assistant coach
