ETON police have recorded over a dozen motorists clocking up high speeds. Senior Constable Craig Myers recording 19 motorists travelling above the speed limit in excess of 40kms an hour down the Peak Downs Highway. Almost double the number of drivers caught in this speed category during a month period across the entire Mackay region.

 

Child Protection Week is launching this week and we are being encouraged to get involved. Our local member Julieanne Gilbert is urging locals to consider joining the team.

 

Adult Learners week kicks off in Mackay. Locals are being encouraged to take part in a series of workshops held at Mackay's libraries. The focus is all things Technology.. From demystifying Social media to learning how to stream and it's helping locals get tech savvy. Deputy Mayor Amanda Camm says it’s going to be a great week.

 

Jamie Oliver is bringing cooking to Mackay. His Ministry of Food Mobile Kitchen is in town this week as part of its Queensland Tour. Classes will commence tomorrow running in rounds through until mid-December. Mackay’s best squash juniors have represented the State. Kobe Weder and Danielle James joined the Queensland state team at the state schools event in Sydney last week.

Brothers have walked away the premiers in the Mackay and District Rugby League Women's comp. Entering BB Print Stadium to the sound of bagpipes the ladies walked away victorious over Moranbah yesterday. Under the scorching sun the side ended the minor premier quest of their opponents in a hard fought 26-12 victory
