MACKAY locals are being told to brace for some cooler weather. A cold front pushing its way up the state and dropping the temps to as low as 9 degrees over the next few days. Forecaster David Croc says most of the state will feel the cold

A child has outsmarted a would be thief in SOUTH MACKAY. Around 7:30 Tuesday night the adults left the child alone at their Turner Street home. Straight away someone tried to get in through the unlocked back door. One of the two kids home at the time quickly pushed the door closed and tried to lock it. Harvesting has been cancelled by MACKAY SUGAR. Works starting at both the Marian and Farleigh Mills as scheduled. The works uncovering a number of teething problems that have halted harvesting until the current supply can be processed.
